As ever Rebecca well said , it really has come to something when an 11 minute trip on blue origin is P R washed to the world as “ an inspiration to girls and women “. The women that used every hard one synapse to create everything NASA achieved for decades get zero recognition and if the they were black or native Americans they have had legacy deleted by Musk on official government records under his anti woke agenda (DEI destruction) , along with the Navaho code talkers from ww2. Bezos should be fined for his environmental disaster masquerading as inspiration for women. Sorry did I say fined , I meant shot. Earl grey does that to me . Thanks for the tea Rebecca

Thanks Patrick. Bezos’s babes are no inspiration to me or my daughters. You are so right about the appalling erasure of the real women astronauts, pioneers, scientists, code talkers… Bezos’s babes don’t deserve the recognition and kudos these women worked so hard for. The environmental consequences of this jumped up hen party are also appalling. Shameful as ever, but sadly not surprising.

Thank you for promoting my humble little recipes, Rebecca. I'm hoping to expand my writing into a more regular blog than my monthly Wonkette recipe once I've finished my history degree this summer, hopefully you'll find some more cakes you'll like when I do that.

Oh lovely Cakes! I love the way you not only provide scrummy recipes but also fight the great fight along the way. Two of my favourite things! I look forward to more of your recipes once your degree is complete. Good luck with it, history is fab, great choice of degree 📜

I have never made lemon drizzle cake, but this recipe looks really nice, so I might give it a go. Thank you.

All the best for your degree.

Thank you. It is a really nice cake, and swapping the eggs and butter for oil makes it lovely and moist. It never lasts long when I bake it for my family.

If you need eggs for any of those cakes, I have way too many of ‘em. Twelve free rangers. You’ll have to pay FedEx, though.

In the ‘random country’ where I live, I can get a dozen eggs without having to remortgage my house!

Thanks for the offer though Rich. You must be the only person in America with too many eggs! 🥚

Exactly Marilyn… what a performance, what a photo opportunity, what a show off! I wonder if she thinks the whole debacle was worth it now the ‘crew’ have received such negative publicity? 🤔

I got into a bit of a stramash on Bluesky last night with someone who felt that this *was* in fact groundbreaking because the crew (as in the actual crew, rather than the ridealong celebrity passengers) were, for the first time, all women. I tend to agree with you and commenters here that it's not, because women have been working in space for decades and this isn't adding anything new to the story apart from carbon emissions. Is the mere fact of them being all women enough? It would be good to think we were past that point by now. And even if it is groundbreaking, the hoopla about the passengers has served to obliterate the actual crew from the story anyway.

Exactly Alison. It’s patronising and frankly a smoke-screen to justify a tone-deaf, carbon emitting joy ride.

When women are dying of septic miscarriages and facing carrying the babies of their rapists, I don’t think anyone can see this vanity project as an empowering act for women. I call bullshit. I’m glad you did too.

Oh and the rocket trip!! What a massive load of fuckery in such a fucked up world! Katy Perry is as deranged as the Orange Blob, particularly when you hear her comments. What the heck is she talking about???

I’m in Rebecca!! I’ve stopped using Amazon too although I did have a spate of ordering things worth a £ or two over a few days because I knew the free p&p would cost them more than the items were worth!! I use it to go online and find stuff, then I go directly to the sellers off Amazon store to order. I wonder when he’ll notice?

Oh I’m hoping he will notice soon if enough of us get onboard… I have been writing about this all week and asking my readers to restack… not for me but to get the message out there. Small acts of resistance all add up and there are far more normal people than there are tyrants and Oligarchs… we can take back the power, one alternative purchase at a time!

So sick of the ladies in space shit. Gayle King was saying " We are doing something good up here!" What exactly would that be Gayle besides you all can say you picked your noses in space?

Brilliant Rebecca. The ‘Wonderful World’ not if you are having a septic miscarriage point was particularly bang on and I particularly loved this quote too :

one giant leap (backwards) for female kind.

More too - but I could only paste one for the comments.

Methinks your cat will be

getting their biscuits from your new shop on a permanent basis.

Bezos and his babes really are all utter arse holes. People can show them what they think with their feet and I hope they do

Thanks for your comments Joanna. So grateful for all your support. Writing and campaigning is hard work (ok it’s not labour ward at 3 a.m) but it takes it out of me sometimes. I appreciate you have always got my back!

Happy Easter 🐣… eat the choc, life is too short ! X

On a more serious tone, I'm concerned about the UK's Supreme Court decision defining a woman. Y'all best be on guard, lest you desire a similar fate. I have no idea why I stated that so formally, but . . . 😜
